There is little that is as exciting as the proper fly fishing. Rena river is one of the best rivers for anglers, and that is why we have started Rena Fish Camp.
Lars B. Johansen is passionate about fly fishing. So great is the interest that he persuaded his partner Anita to get back to his childhood Deset, north of Rena in Østerdalen. Here, it is possible to ensure a peaceful and rural life for both young and old.
We would give our daughter Mathilde as good a childhood as the one I had on Deset, says Lars. In addition, we saw a unique opportunity to create a living by what we like best, which is to be host, and to flyfish in the Rena river.
When the old grocery store on Deset was offered for sale Anita and Lars seised the opportunity, and began to renovate the abandoned store. Eventually the ideas of the camp came in place in spring 2009 the pair started with an extensive remodeling of the old store. In June 2012, the project is finished. Where there were previously sold bread and milk are now fishermen to live in newly refurbished surroundings.
Rena river is unique, says Lars. Fishing opportunities are endless, and the surroundings are beautiful. The silence, mixed with the excitement of knowing where the fish rises, is some of the experience we will offer our guests. In addition, we stand for good service and expertise in the sport, he said.
Lars is pretty much raised by Rena river's shores. He has spent endless hours to fish and kayak in the river, and knows the area inside and out. Anita is responsible for all the practical things, and places great emphasis on being a good host.
We will do what we can to ensure that our guests will leave here with a strong desire to come back, says Anita.
There is much work to keep the wheels turning, but it's what we like to do, she smiles.
Welcome to Deset, and welcome to Rena Fish Camp!
